Redmi 9 Prime Unveiled With MediaTek Processor, AI Quad-Camera, 5,020mAh Battery

The Chinese company Xiaomi has unveiled its new smartphone in the budget market. The Redmi 9 Prime comes with the same specs and design as Redmi 9 which was launched in Spain during June 2020. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek processor, AI quad-camera, 5,020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, and more.

The latest Redmi 9 Prime comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. It has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and comes with the Gorilla Glass 3 protection and P2i coating.

The device is powered by a 2.0 GHz MediaTek Helio G80 coupled with ARM G52 GPU. The device comes in two storage options 4GB RAM and 64GB or 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. Also, it has a dedicated MicroSD card slot, that can support up to 512GB.

On the optics front, the Redmi 9 Prime offers an AI quad-camera setup at the back that includes, 13MP primary camera, an 8 MP UW camera with 118.2-degree field of view, 5 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP portrait camera. For the selfie, it has an 8 MP camera housed inside the notch.

For connectivity options, it has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, IR blaster, and a USB Type-C port. Additionally, the company claimed that the device is equipped with G-sensor, L-sensor, P-sensors, and E-compass.

The phone is powered by a 5,020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. However, the retail box will only include a 10W charger. Moreover, the company claims that the device can give 185 hours of music playback, 31 hours calling, 19 hours of continuous navigation, and 19 hours of video playback.

The smartphone runs on Android 10 with MIUI 11 on top. For security, it has a fingerprint scanner at the back and also supports face unlock. It comes in four color variants that include, Matte Black, Mint Green, Space Blue, and Sunrise Flare.

Price and Availability

Redmi 9 Prime price starts at Rs 9,999 for 4GB + 64GB variant and Rs 11,999 for 4GB + 128GB storage option. The device will be available for purchase for the first time on August 6 at 10 am as a part of an early access sale via Amazon during the Prime Day.

Further, the phone will be put on sale beginning August 17 via mi.com, Amazon India, Mi Home stores, and Mi Studios.
