UUID Generator

Create a random UUID version 4 in your browser. One, or a short list.

Version 4 is random. It does not include the time or a machine address. The list stops at 20.

How to make a UUID

1. Leave the count at 1, or raise it up to 20.

2. Choose Generate. Each value is a new UUID version 4.

3. Copy the list. A UUID is an identifier, not a password.

What a UUID is

A UUID is a 128-bit identifier written as five groups of hexadecimal, separated by hyphens. Programs use one when a row, a file, or a request needs an ID that does not depend on a counter. Guessing the next value is not practical.

UUID version 4

Version 4 is the random UUID. It does not store the time or a machine address, so the value does not reveal when or where it was made. The third group starts with 4. Other versions exist for names and timestamps. This generator makes version 4 only.
