HTC U11 Life to be Launched on November 2 – Bezel-less Display Expected

Rahul Krishnan • Updated October 31, 2017 • 3 min read • Leave a Comment

HTC has officially announced that they would be conducting an event on November 2. Ahead of the event, they teased the presence of a bezel-less display on the upcoming U-series smartphone. Most probably, it would be a mid-ranger named U11 Life.

We now have multiple smartphones in the mid-range segment, which comes with minimal bezels. And, HTC aims at taking their dominance down with the new offering.

The company teased the new smartphone on the official Twitter handle with the tagline “You’ll believe it all on 11.02.2017”. The image shows the left-bottom part of a bezel-less smartphone that indeed hints at the presence of a minimal bezel screen on the upcoming device. HTC already launched U11, U Play, and U Ultra with a front-mounted home button+ fingerprint scanner. However, the posted image shows no such button up front.

It is true that the fingerprint scanner has become a smartphone standard now. Hence, we don’t think HTC will be ditching it on the upcoming U11 Life. Most probably, they will place the scanner on the back below the camera.

Another notable feature is about the cameras. Almost every single mid-range smartphone manufacturer is trying to seduce the users with a dual rear camera setup. Even the Redmi Note 5 might come up with one. Nonetheless, HTC is not going with the trend and will only opt for a single camera on the back, obviously, with an LED flashlight. The device might sport a secondary microphone for noise cancellation as well.

At first, the company thought of releasing both U11 Life and U11 Plus in a single event on the same date. The famous tipster Evan Blass stated otherwise on his Twitter profile. We will only see U11 Life on November 2nd. Even before Blass, a GeekBench listing had been leaked.

Going with the listing, the smartphone sports a Snapdragon 660 chipset underneath the hood, coupled with a 3 GB of RAM. You won’t get the latest Android Oreo out of the box, but 7.1.1 Nougat instead. If your pick is stock Android, U11 Life might not satisfy you as HTC will be loading their own skin on top.

Most probably, HTC will go for 18:9 display aspect ratio and that doubled with bezel-less design might attract many. The company took the feat of releasing the first-ever squeezable phone and the feature will be there on the new phone too.

Quoting the leaks, it will come out in Brilliant Black, Sapphire Blue, and Ice White. Moreover, the price for the 3GB/ 32GB variant is rumored to be around €369 (around Rs.27835).
