Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Android 8.0 Oreo Update Finally Begins Rolling Out

Rahul Krishnan • Updated March 20, 2018 • 3 min read •

Galaxy Note 8 was a prestige issue for Samsung given what happened with the previous generation. The Note 7 fiasco has made an almost permanent dent in the reputation of the company. So, they had to wholeheartedly try to make it a good deal.

To recall, Samsung launched the device with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Of course, they promised the Oreo update and seems like it’s here.

Android 8.0 Oreo for Galaxy Note 8 Starts Rolling Out

When you buy a flagship device, we need the latest operating system out of the box. Given Oreo is the recent version of Android, Note 8 users might feel a bit off the track as they still use Nougat.

Samsung Turkey website has confirmed last week that the users would begin receiving the update by March 31. However, the rollout process has already been begun. Some users in France started getting the update even before the proposed date. The interesting fact is that the version is stable, not beta.

The Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 carries SamMobile Notes, March Android security patch, and also updates the user interface to Samsung Experience 9.0. The update bears the firmware version N950FXXU3CRC1.

You know Samsung isn’t too quick to update their devices’ Android version. Google released Android 8.0 Oreo back in August last year. And, they even exposed the developer preview of the next iteration of the operating system. Both S8 and S8+ started receiving the update in February only. However, they had to roll back the update due to the unknown rebooting issues before they resumed it later.

The Turkish website also published the company’s plans to release Android 8.0 Oreo updates for other earlier flagships. Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will get the new Android version by April 13, as per the report. Moreover, you can expect the same to Galaxy A7 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017) by May 25, this year.

As we go left to the timeline, Note 8 is one of the most premium flagships available on the market. Many people can’t ignore the device just because of the unique uses of the stylus. The device comes in two processor variants; Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895. The 6 GB device is available in 64/128/256 GB storage versions.

When it comes to the camera, the device carries a dual 12 MP setup on the back and an 8 MP one up front. The battery capacity is 3300 mAh and it supports fast charging as well.

In case you want to use a dual-SIM variant, you will have to sacrifice the micro SD for extended storage.
