Poco C51 Budget Smartphone with MediaTek Helio G36 Chipset Launched in India

The Poco C51 launches as the new affordable smartphone from the sub-brand of Redmi in India. The company has brought its latest smartphone with MediaTek Helio chipset and a water-drop notch display. The device comes with a dual camera setup on the rear with a flash and flaunts two different color options.

The smartphone is a rebranded version of Redmi A2+ that launched in a few markets around the world. The handset features an option to virtually expand the RAM apart from the inbuilt RAM for up to 7 GB. The handset comes in a single storage version and packs in a 5000mAH battery.

The Poco C51 sports a 6.52-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels. The display comes with the support of a 120Hz touch sampling rate and 400 nits of brightness. Under the hood, an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 chipset paired with PowerVR GE8320 GPU powers the device. The storage on the device includes 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

Poco has even provided a dedicated slot for expanding the storage with an external SD card. The rear dual camera setup features an 8-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary depth sensor. The front-facing camera residing in the water-drop notch has a 5-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling. The rear cameras can record videos at 30 fps in 1080p resolution.

The connectivity features of the C51 include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a micro USB port. The sensor array on the Poco C51 has limited offerings coming with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and an accelerometer. The battery pack provided with the device has a 5000mAh cell that charges at regular 10W speeds.

Price and Availability

The cost of the brand-new Poco C51 in India is Rs. 8,499 for the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It is available on Flipkart with a “coming soon” tag and is currently listed in the colors Power Black and Royal Blue, with sales beginning on April 10.

Poco is selling the phone for a discounted rate of Rs. 7,999 on launch day, although it is unclear how long this deal will last. Customers who use their Flipkart Axis Bank cards to purchase the Poco C51 will receive a 5% cashback. Poco is providing an additional discount of Rs. 700 on transactions made with specific bank cards. Typical EMI plans begin at 299 rupees per month.
