The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has launched their latest model F5 in the Philippines As with any other Oppo device in the market, the focus is on the selfie camera. They also integrated artificial intelligence capabilities to the camera.

Following the trend, the company opted for a 6-inch FullVision display. They will launch Oppo F5 in India on November 2.

Oppo is one of the two companies that recognized the broad offline market for the gadget business. They successfully concentrated on the offline marketing and reaped the fruits as well.

The latest one, Oppo F5 sports a 6-inch FullVision TFT display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. And, it has 18:9 aspect ratio with full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. You can pop in two nano SIMs and a separate micro SD card too. So, you can use two SIM cards and have increased storage.

Underneath the hood, the smartphone packs in a MediaTek MT6763T octa-core processor coupled with 800MHz ARM Mali G71 MP2 GPU. The phone is available in two storage and RAM variants; 4GB/ 32GB and 6GB/ 64GB. You can expand the storage up to 256 GB using an external SD card.

The main highlight of the device is its 20 MP front camera (with f/2.0 aperture) itself. They have integrated an AI-beautification technology for the selfie shots. The company claims the device recognizes about 200 positioning spots on the face and uses them to enhance the symmetry between eyes, cheekbones, jawline, and nose. The beauty-iris tool makes sure your eyes shine bright in every snap. We recently found out with Pixel 2 that there is no need for a dual camera setup for bokeh effect. Oppo repeats the same thing with the front camera of F5. On the back, it carries a 16 MP camera with f/1.7 aperture. So clearly, no dual cameras!

The handset runs on Android 7.1 Nougat-based ColorOS and has a battery of 3200 mAh capacity. The specialized O-share wireless technology transfers files 100 times faster than that of the Bluetooth.

As for the pricing, the 4GB/ 32 GB variant that comes in Gold and Black colors costs you PHP 15,990 (roughly Rs. 20,000). Oppo hasn’t released the price details of the 6GB/ 64 GB variant yet (comes in Red color).

They already announced that the Indian launch event would happen on November 2nd. F5 will also hit the market in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam without any delay as well.

What do you think of the device? Is it worth your money? Or Oppo is charging you a whole 20000 INR for nothing but an overrated selfie camera? Let us know your thoughts below.
