Nothing Phone (1) Launched with Snapdragon 778+ SoC and a Transparent Back Design in India

Nothing Phone 1 has officially launched globally and in India after a long hype and wait. The Phone (1) from Carl Pei’s founded Nothing brand features Snapdragon Chipset and Dual Rear Cameras. The brand makes its debut in the smartphone market with the Phone (1) handset with a unique transparent design on the back.

Nothing Phone (1) Specifications

The Nothing Phone (1) sports a 6.55 inches FHD+ OLED display and a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display on the smartphone features a 20:9 aspect ratio; a pixel density of 402 PPI, and a screen-to-body ratio of 85.8%.

Furthermore, the display supports a 120Hz high-refresh rate, HDR10+. A peak brightness of 1200 nits is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In addition, the smartphone runs on the Android 12 operating system with Nothing OS skin.

Under the hood, an octa-core 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ 5G chipset paired with Adreno 642L GPU powers the smartphone. Also, the handset comes with three storage options which are 8/12 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The company boasted the back design of the device. Most of its marketing postings on social media show off LED strips on the back. Moreover, these LED strips on the back come as a Glyph Interface.

This interface lights up according to the patterns available on the pre-loaded Glyph settings. Besides, Nothing claims there are 900 LED lights and brings 10 Glyph patterns that light up while receiving a message or calls on the device.

The camera module on the smartphone features dual cameras. A primary 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor with PDAF and OIS. The secondary sensor of the camera setup consists of an ultra-wide 50-megapixel shooter.

It’s a Samsung JN1 sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 114-degree field of view. Besides, the device’s front-facing camera resides in the display’s punch-hole with a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling.

The connectivity options of the device include 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, hotspot. Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C 2.0 port. Moreover, the sensors array of the smartphone includes an under-display fingerprint scanner, accelerometer, proximity, gyro, and compass. Lastly, Phone (1) comes equipped with a 4500 mAh battery that supports 33W fast and 12W wireless charging.

Pricing and Availability

The Nothing Phone (1) starts at Rs. 32,999 for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage model and Rs 35,999 for the 8GB and 256 GB storage version. On the contrary, the higher storage version of the smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs. Rs 38,999 for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage.

The first sale of the Nothing Phone (1) will begin on July 21 at 7 PM IST on Flipkart in India.
