Lenovo Legion Go Handheld Gaming Console Launched With AMD Ryzen Z1 Chipset and QHD Display

Lenovo Legion Go had an official launch at IFA Berlin (Internationale Funk Ausstellung) 2023 arriving as the brand’s first handheld gaming device.

The device features the Windows 11 operating system along with a QHD+ display. The design of the Legion GO handset includes Hall Effect joysticks for improved accuracy and responsive movements during gaming sessions.

This new device from Lenovo has taken cues from existing handheld gaming devices like Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. However, the gaming device will compete with Nintendo Switch, Asus ROG Ally, and Steam Deck which provide a similar experience. The new gaming console from Lenovo stands firm providing decent specifications and pricing.

Lenovo Legion Go Specifications

The Lenovo Legion Go sports an 8.8-inch QHD+ IPS display with a screen resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels. The display features a 16:10 aspect ratio along with support for a 10-point touch screen and a 144Hz high refresh rate. Besides, the screen even covers a 97-percent DCI-P3 color gamut and 500 nits of peak brightness.

The joysticks provided on the device come with a Hall effect and multiple buttons. These buttons include a D-pad, touchpad, 10-mappable shoulder buttons, an angled mouse wheel, and grip buttons. The device runs on the Windows 11 operating system along with Legion Space software pre-installed. Lenovo will even offer three months of Xbox Game Pass ultimate subscription.

The Legion Space users can have a quick glance and access all the games from different stores and purchase them using the Legion Game store.

Under the hood, the AMD Ryzen Z1 series chipset paired with AMD RDNA graphics powers the handset. Furthermore, the Legion Go comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM which runs at 7,500 Mhz.

The storage provided on the device comes with up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD and users can expand the storage for up to 2TB using a microSD card.

The gaming console comes with Legion TrueStrike controllers with detachable plug-and-play for flexible gaming. In terms of cooling, Lenovo has included a liquid crystal polymer 79-blade fan. The fan doesn’t generate much noise in quiet mode which ranges less than 25dB while running on full performance.

The connectivity options provided on the Lenovo Legion Go include two USB-Type C ports, that support USB 4.0, DisplayPort 1.4, and Power Delivery 3.0.

Moreover, the console even comes with a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2. The battery pack on the device comes with a 49.2Wh cell that supports fast charging as well.

Price and Availability

The Lenovo Legion Go comes at a price tag of EUR 799 or Rs. 70,000 approximately. The device comes in a single Shadow Black shade color. The device will go on sale in November starting this year.
