Every gadget enthusiast was eagerly waiting for yesterday, the day Apple launches their next generation iPhone. Although they had released the Apple Watch 4 in the event, iPhones stole the show.

In the event, company CEO Tim Cook said the new iPhone XS would take iPhones to the next level. In case you are not looking for an expensive iPhone, you can settle yourself for a cheaper variant named iPhone XR.

Apple Vice President for Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller introduced iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. On the former, you get a 5.8-inch display whereas the later features a 6.1-inch panel. They boasted in the event that the glass used on both sides of the devices is the most durable ever on a smartphone. Moreover, the duo sport surgical-grade steel.

The IP68 rating ensures you can dip the phones up to 2 meters for 30 minutes. If you are wondering what the display panel is, it is OLED. iPhone XS features 2436 x 1125-pixel resolution whereas XS Max has 2688 x 1242 pixels resolution. You also get 3D Touch, stereo sound, and faster Face ID.

Underneath the hood of both the phone, you will get A12 Bionic chipset, which is made out of a 7 nm manufacturing process (Huawei’s Kirin 980 also goes through the same process). The SoC packs in a hexacore CPU, a quad-core GPU, and a neural engine. Apple claims this year’s chipset to be 15 percent faster than that of last year’s A11. The GPU inside A12 has seen a significant performance boost with 50% better efficiency.

For the optics, there are two 12 MP sensors on the back with one wide angle lens (f/1.8 aperture) and other telephoto lenses (f/2.4 aperture). Not to mention, you will get optical image stabilization, True Tone flash, and a flicker-detection system. Front camera houses a 7-MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The IR camera, 3D facial detection system, and dot projector have also found their place up front.

As you read the title, both the devices can take in two SIM cards. In China, Apple supports two physical SIM cards. However, in the rest of the world, we can use two numbers on the phone using a software-based eSIM method. In India, Jio and Airtel support this standard.

For the storage, iPhone XS models come in 64 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. On the other hand, iPhone XR will be available in 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. The premium models will go on sale on September 21 and hit the Indian market by September 28. But the pre-order for XS will begin after a month only.

In India, the price of iPhone XS starts from Rs. 99900. The iPhone XS Max’s price label begins at Rs. 1,09,900. The cheapest of the lot, iPhone XR has a starting price of Rs. 76,900.
