Huawei P40 5G, P40 Pro 5G, P40 Pro+ 5G Launched with Kirin 990 5G SoC and Five Rear Cameras

Huawei has launched its P40 series on Thrusday (26 March 2020) in an online-only event. The P40 series includes P40 5G, P40 Pro 5G, and P40 Pro+ 5G. All three smartphone comes with WiFi6 and 5G connectivity, all thanks to its in house Kirin 990 SoC.

The P-series of Huawei is known for photography (Camera) and to improve its camera capability Huawei has used the Multi-Reflection Super Periscope Telephoto lens, which is the world’s first to use in a smartphone. It has the world’s first Oct PD AutoFoucous in the front camera. Further, the smartphone can do a Max Zoom of 100x.

Huawei P40-Series Specs

All three phones are powered by Kirin 990 SoC, coupled with Mali-G76 MC16 GPU, and come in a single 8GB RAM variant. It runs on Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 on top.

The P40 comes with a 6.1-inch OLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. While the P40 Pro and Pro+ have a larger 6.58-inch OLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate.

In terms of storage, you can expand storage in P40 and P40 Pro via an external micro-SD card. However, there is no option to upgrade the storage in P40 Pro+.

Well, on the camera there is a lot to talk about, it can record 4K @60fps it has dual OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) + AIS (Artificial Image Stabilization). Further, it can record Ultra slow-motion @7680 fps and do Real-time Bokeh

On the front, it has a 32MP primary camera with f/2.2, IR Depth/ Gesture camera and Ambient and proximity sensor. The front camera can be used in face unlock, smart gestures like scroll and capture and to use AI private view.

All three phones have a different battery and charging capacity. The P40 has a 3,800mAh battery that supports Super Charge 22.5W fast charging. The P40 Pro has a larger 4,200mAh battery which supports 40W fast charging and 27W fast wireless charging.

Further, the P40 Pro+ has the same 4,200mAh battery but it supports 40W fast and wireless charging, which company claimed the world’s fastest commercialized 40W wireless charging.

Price and Availability

The Huawei P40 comes in an 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage model priced at EUR 799, which is roughly Rs 66,300. The phone comes in three color variants Black, Deep Sea Blue and Ice White and two matte color variants- Blush Gold and silver frost.

The P40 Pro 5G is available in an 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage, which is priced at EUR 999, roughly Rs 82,990. It will be available in the same colors as P40 5G. Both P40 Pro and P40 Pro 5G will go on sale from 7th April.

While the P40 Pro+ 5G is also available in a single 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage variant. It is priced at EUR 1,399 which is roughly Rs 1,16,000. The device comes in two colors Black Ceramic and White Ceramic and will go on sale from June.
