Huawei Mate X2 Announced with Folding Display and Kirin 9000 in China

Kaushik Battu • Updated February 23, 2021 • 3 min read •

Huawei Mate X2 is a next-generation folding smartphone and successor to Huawei Mate X launched in China. The Mate X-Series smartphones from the manufacturer mainly focussed on the folding capabilities of the screen. The newer generation Mate X2 has improved in leaps and bounds above the predecessor in all means such as cameras and display quality.

Unlike, the previous generation of the Mate X model, the Huawei Mate X2 smartphone folds inside instead of outwards. The design aspect of this particular device is similar to Samsung Galaxy Fold’s design with the same folding mechanism. The predecessor Mate X had a different approach of folding mechanism with minor difficulties that were evident. The Mate X2 has improved these setbacks slightly for an overall different experience.

Huawei Mate X2 Specifications

Huawei Mate X2 for starters flaunts an 8-inch 90 Hz (2200 x 2480 pixels) foldable OLED display on the inside that deals with a no-notch or a punch-hole over the screen. The outer side of the Mate X2 features a 6.45-inch 90Hz OLED display with 1160 x 2700 pixels resolution. Both the displays of the smartphone have a 180Hz touch-sampling rate. The outer and inner displays of Mate X2 have a pixel density of 456 and 413 PPI respectively.

The Mate X2 sports a side-mounted fingerprint sensor unit that acts as a button for the power on/off as well for faster unlocking.
