Hotstar is Now Offering Annual Subscription for Rs. 696 (70% Off)

Rahul Krishnan • Updated April 8, 2023 • 3 min read • Leave a Comment

Hotstar doesn’t need an introduction among Indian smartphone users. Owned by the same firm of Star Sports, Hotstar provides sports, films, and TV shows streaming. However, they marked some shows and movies as premium. You get 5 minutes streaming delay when watching live sports events as well. Nonetheless, you can overcome all these issues by opting for a premium subscription.

Hotstar Discounts Annual Subscription to Rs. 696

Unlike other streaming services, Hotstar allows us to watch some movies, TV shows, and games for free. As stated earlier, they have a selected collection for the premium members. Once they launched, the premium service was available at a price of Rs. 199 per month, which went all the way to Rs. 2388 per year. Almost every one of us might think it as an expensive affair.

That’s why Hotstar, in the last month, brought down the price to Rs. 1200 (at 50% discount). They also had another plan for 9 months specifically geared towards football fans as well.

Now the new price cut makes the annual price for the premium subscription Rs. 696. And, you can buy the service using both debit and credit cards as well. We haven’t got any information about the expiry date of the new offer. However, you had better grab the deal right now.

You have to visit Hotstar website and click on the premium tab to avail this offer. In case you have another on-going subscription, it is mandatory for you to cancel the same.

Although they offer their service on other two markets (the US and Canada), the discount is available only in India. Users have to pay standard $9.99 and CAD 12.99 in both the countries respectively.

If you compare the streaming services in India, you will find Amazon Prime to be the cheapest among the lot. They offer the subscription at a rate of Rs. 499 per year. Given the small collection and lack of live sports event (barring American football) on Prime, Hotstar takes the feat of being the most popular one. With the latest price cut, Hotstar gives neck-to-neck competition to Amazon Prime. In the meantime, news had come out stating Amazon might withdraw the Rs. 499 offer and introduce the new pricing of Rs. 999 per year for the Prime subscription.

Of course, Netflix is the expensive one with the basic plan at Rs. 500 per month. At the present scenario, Netflix costs almost five times the price of Prime or Hotstar.
