Google Play Store has decided to bring on a new set of norms for the app developers. This will allow Google Play to maintain transparency on how an app collects the data of a user. The information such as privacy and security practices of an app is now available in the new safety section. Besides, Apple has introduced the same set of privacy rules on their App store a couple of months earlier.

Even though, Apple has decided of showing the privacy policies of only third-party applications. Google has come front to even settle to the same set of rules for first-party applications as well. In this way, Google will provide the privacy policy and information for the first-party applications as well. Google has announced its new Privacy Policies for the app developers right after two months of Apple implemented them on their platform.

The policy not only tells you which specific data such as location, contacts, or email address but describes the use of each data that is shared by you for the app.

Google on the new Privacy Policies and Security for Play Store says:

These new privacy policies help people understand the data an app collects or shares. If the data is secured, and additional details that impact privacy and security.

This gives an edge to the developers and should provide the same of the reasons that the app uses in the provided section. The developer has to explain the new safety section with the usage of data. Furthermore, they have to even describe the functionality of the application with the data collected for the application. This is to check whether the data of the applications has encryption and comply with the policies of Google.

Google Play Store Privacy Labels Timeline

Google has not implemented the new Privacy Policies directly but has given time for the developers. The policy for the Play store is due for several months to come. In the meantime, developers are given a chance to start declaring the new privacy information in the fourth quarter for this year.

The privacy policies for the developers from the Google Play store come into prevalence from the second quarter of 2022.
