Google Pixel 5a is a new mid-range smartphone with Snapdragon 5G chipset from the tech giant; announced on August 17th in the US and Japan. The smartphone comes with the same aesthetics found on the Pixel 4a except for the new internals. The uni-body aluminum outer shell of the Pixel 5a and can withstand a few water splashes and dust with IP67 certification.
The launch of the smartphone was out of the blue, although there were rumors that the Pixel 5a was canceled at a point in time. Nonetheless, the smartphone has finally arrived on the market after a lot of teases and leaks on the internet. Furthermore, the pixel devices are known for their camera modules and the new 5a model is no exception with dual cameras and an LED flash on the rear.

The Pixel 5a flaunts a slightly bigger 6.34-inch FHD+ OLED display contrary to the last year’s Pixel 4a 5G with the 6.2-inches display. The display comes with a regular 60Hz refresh rate panel that features a punch-hole to accommodate the front-facing camera. An Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G powers the device along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The camera module on the Pixel 5a is a Dual Lens setup featuring a 12.2-megapixel primary camera. The secondary sensor on the module is a 16-megapixel Ultra-Wide angle lens. The front-facing camera on the Pixel 5a is an 8-megapixel sensor. Also, the rear of the device along with the cameras features an indent that comprises the fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking of the device.
The connectivity options on the Google mid-ranger include 5G, Dual-Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac; Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C 3.1 port. Also, the sensors array comes with a Proximity/Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer/Gyrometer, Magnetometer, Barometer. The battery pack on the device is of a 4,620mAh cell that supports 18W USB PD-2.0 Fast Charging.
Price and Availability
The Google Pixel 5a 5G smartphone is priced at $449 for the single variant of 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Google has brought the device in one color version dubbed as Mostly Black. Google will be providing three years of guaranteed software updates for the handset. The sale of the Google Pixel 5a will begin on August 26th in the US and Japan.
