Google Pixel 4a Launched With Hole-Punch Display, 12 MP Single Rear Camera

Google has launched Pixel 4a, a successor of Pixel 3a which was launched in India last year. However this time the company didn’t introduce the XL variant. The device comes with a single camera on both front and back, Snapdragon 700 series processor, 3,140mAh battery, and much more.

The Pixel 4a features a 5.81-inch FHD+ OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and supports HDR. The display comes with features such as Always-on display and protected with Gorilla Glass 3.

Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor coupled with Adreno 618 GPU. For RAM and Storage, it has 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB internal storage and it can’t be expanded via microSD card.

On the optics department, it features a single 12.2 MP dual-pixel camera with a 1.4-pixel width and 77-degree field of view. The single-lens comes with Optical + Electronic image stabilization. Moving to the front camera it has an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The rear camera supports HDR+ with dual exposure controls, Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with astrophotography capabilities, and fused video stabilization. Also, it can record up to 4K videos at 30 fps and 1080 pixels videos at 120 fps. Whereas the front camera is capable of recording 1080 pixel videos at 30 fps.

The smartphone includes sensors such as Proximity/Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer/Gyrometer, Magnetometer, Pixel Imprint, Barometer, fingerprint sensor at the back, and Android Sensor Hub.

Moreover, it comes with stereo speakers and two microphones with noise suppression and runs on Android 10+ and preloaded with a new Google Assistant with the lens. The device also gets a Recorder app with real-time transcription support in English. Further, the Pixel 4a comes with Live Caption support.

However, the latest device doesn’t feature the Soli chip that was included on the Pixel 4, which enables motion sensing and gesture controls.

The smartphone is backed up with a 3,140mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The phone comes bundled with a USB Type-C adapter that works with USB PD 2.0 (Power Delivery).

Price and Availability

The Pixel 4a comes with a price tag of $349 which is Rs 26,300 (roughly) and is available for pre-order in the US. Whereas, the device will make its debut (availability) in October via Flipkart. However, the price of the device in India is not revealed yet. The phone comes in a single Just Black color variant.
