Facebook is all in plans to change the name of its company at the annual Connect conference on October 28. The talks about the plan of changing the name of the company were coming from the CEO of Facebook; Mark Zuckerberg.
The company is known for its social messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and also in the VR world with Oculus. Now, the company is trying to expand its footprint as much more than a social networking company.
Facebook rebranding with a new name for the ‘Metaverse’
The social networking company is making plans to change its name; which would give a new path for their foundation of Metaverse. The company has an employee count of 10,000 that is making efforts in the AR world and Mark Zuckerberg believes that AR wearables are the next big thing. He even predicts that in the future AR wearables will become as common as the smartphones of this time.
The next understandable reason for the name change of the company is to remove the bad impression; received from Congress on Facebook. Congress has scrutinized the social networking entity regarding many issues.
Furthermore, the recently testified reason at the congress on the social network company was regarding; Child Safety and Mental health issues. This can be one of the reasons for the company to change its name and a refreshed start.
Many other companies have changed their identity with them being a child company of a parent company to expand its growth. Google has become a conglomerate company of Alphabet.Inc which is the parent company and Snapchat has changed its identity to Snap. inc making themselves a camera company. In the same way, Facebook is coming up with a new name that might help them in expanding their products.
The upcoming rebranded name of the company is unknown but; certain rumors are going around with a particular name. The still-unreleased VR version of Facebook-meets-Roblox which in the end was called Horizon may become the name of the company.
In another instance, the company has even named its workspace collaboration application as Horizon Workrooms. The theory of Metaverse is a concept of future iteration; where the social networking company promoting is commendable as it is focussing on building a virtual world with the help of AR.
