Micromax Launched Dual 5 Smartphone with 13 MP Dual-Rear Cameras

Last Updated on March 30, 2017 by Rahul Krishnan 1 Comment

Micromax was silent in the last few months, allowing other manufacturers to have a free run in the Indian smartphone industry. But today, they have broken the silence with the new device named Dual 5.

The Indian brand Micromax is well-known in the low-end and mid-level phone market. Still, none of their devices performed well in the premium segment so far. And, they expect Dual 5 to be an exception.

Over the last few months, we saw multiple smartphones coming up with dual-camera setups. Huawei impressed everybody with their Honor 6X smartphone, not only with the dual-cameras but with the overall specs as well.

With Dual 5, launched today, Micromax is also aiming the camera buffs. The smartphone has got dual 13 MP rear cameras.

The device sports a unibody metal design with an almost clichéd form factor. You can easily recognize shades of different devices in the design of Micromax Dual 5.

As stated earlier, the dual-camera setup is the main attraction of the smartphone. Both the rear cameras feature a 13 MP sensor. One is monochromatic whereas the second one is polychromatic. On the front, you get another 13 MP camera to capture selfies and videos.

The 5.5-inch Full HD display uses a super AMOLED panel. And, it is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Underneath the hood, it has got a Snapdragon 652 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz, the one found on Le Eco Le 2. You get 4 GB memory and 128 GB internal storage too. If you want more space, you can insert an SD card (dual SIM hybrid slot) as well.

The OS on Dual 5 is a setback as Micromax didn’t go for the latest version of Android. You get Android 6.0 Marshmallow on it.

The phone supporting Quick Charging has got a 3200 mAh battery.

There are some unique features you can get your hands on with the Dual 5 smartphone. It can shoot 3D videos. And, you can run your phone on a secure platform called SafeVault. It is possible for you to install new apps, keep photos, and store anything there without third-party access. Once you quit SafeVault, no one will ever know you have an underground space.

With that, we get to the price, an area everyone wrinkled their forehead. They have priced it at 24,999 INR. Given that you can buy a phone with Snapdragon 652 under 15,000 in India, time will tell whether Dual 5 performs well or not. The phone will go on sales from April 10 2017.
