Rahul Krishnan • Updated January 17, 2018 • 3 min read • 1 Comment

Huawei Launched Honor 9 Lite in China last month. They are bringing it to India through an event held in New Delhi. The launch begins at 12:30 PM IST and they haven’t yet revealed the pricing details.

As the name suggests, it is a budget device. However, it is only after the launch we can say the exact pricing bracket the phone comes under. To recall, they brought Honor View 10 to India earlier this month.

Honor 9 Lite Indian Launch Set for Today

As you read earlier, the launch event begins at 12:30 PM and you can watch it below.

As for the specs, the main highlight of the device is the quad cameras. It boasts dual camera setups on both front and back. We already have another Huawei device with the same specification, dubbed as Honor 9i. The phone of discussion here features 13+ 2 MP camera combos on rear and front. Not to mention, you can reap the bokeh effect for selfies and back camera shots.

Honor 9 Lite has a double-sided 2.5D glass design with 5.65-inch full HD+ display of 18:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 428 PPI. The near bezel-less display pushed the fingerprint scanner to the back.

Underneath the hood, the device sports a HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2.36 GHz and the remaining cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. You get to choose from 3/ 32 GB, 4/ 32 GB and 4/ 64 GB variants. In case you want to use two SIM cards and a micro SD simultaneously, Honor 9 Lite may not be the best bet. It has a hybrid SIM slot that supports SD card of up to 256 GB.

The phone comes with almost all the connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5-mm headphone jack, and OTG support. You will not get a USB Type-C port, though. Moreover, there are all the necessary sensors as well. Although Huawei has included the gyroscope hardware in the device, they haven’t activated it (might do it later via an OTA update). The company claims the 3000 mAh battery can deliver a talk time of 20 hours.

The Chinese pricing begins at CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 11,700) for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. They have priced the 4/ 64 GB version at CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,600) and 4/ 64 GB variant at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 17,500. It will hit the market as a Flipkart exclusive. However, the e-commerce platform hasn’t listed the top variant. Hence, we believe it is not going to enter the Indian market.
