Facebook Messenger to get Free Voice call Option

Last Updated on March 27, 2020 by Amar Ilindra Leave a Comment

These days Facebook seems to be concentrating on free voice calls on all its products, recently after Facebook-WhatsApp deal, an official announcement has been made that WhatsApp is getting free voice call option in the second quarter of this year. Now its Facebook turn, few people of US claimed they have seen “Free call Option” in Facebook messenger.

It is clear that this update is rolling our quietly to other countries and platforms. Currently it is available for few Facebook messenger accounts in US, France, Chile and only to Android devices.

Slowly everyone irrespective of operating system from all over the globe will see this free call option on their Facebook messenger app and next on the Facebook site as well. Currently it is for only messenger app that too only for Android devices. It seems it is in beta version and they’re testing it.

Another good thing is, it is not mandatory to update the app for this free call option, Messenger is doing this at background and there is no need to rush to play store to update it. If update reaches your end, it will get updated automatically at background without your involvement. All you should have is an internet connection.

No extra network charged to make use of this option. Keep in mind that it uses your data plan and carrier’s data rates may apply. It is advised to use this option on Wi-Fi or 3G data for better results and quality.

Please note for now you can make calls to your Facebook friends who’re using Facebook messenger. Later it may expand and you can make calls to everyone of your friend. To make free calls to your Facebook friend, just go to their profile from Facebook messenger and click “i” icon and you’ll see these three options, just click “Free call”, once your friend accepts your call; enjoy unlimited talking. If he/she is not using messenger, you’ll see a popup saying “Unable to make call

Facebook seems to introduce even more options soon and I hope Facebook won’t publish any thing on our wall saying something like “he is in voice call with her” just kidding!. If you have not yet got this update, you have no other choice than waiting. It is rolling slowly and this update will reach to every profile in few months or even less; rest is with Facebook.
