Samsung has announced its Galaxy S21 FE or the Fan Edition smartphone; as an entry-level device to its flagship S-series lineup. Similarly, the Korean brand announced the predecessor S20 FE last year which comes at mid-range pricing with high-end internals.
The latest Fan Edition from the brand features much of muchness with its elder sibling; the original Galaxy S21 and cuts a few corners such as using a plastic back which makes the flagship device affordable. The regular S21 smartphone with a better build is just $100 higher than the S21 FE which might confuse new consumers.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Specifications
The Galaxy S21 FE from Samsung sports a 6.41 inches FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display comes with a 120Hz high-refresh rate, HDR10+ support, 1200 nits of peak brightness, and a pixel density of 411 PPI.
Furthermore, an octa-core 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Chipset along with Adreno 660 GPU powers the device. Also, the storage options of the handset include 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The camera module on the S21 FE is a triple camera setup that features a 12-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The secondary sensor is an 8-megapixel telephoto shooter; with an f/2.4 aperture and the tertiary sensor features a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture.
Besides, the front-facing camera on the smartphone is a 32-megapixel wide shooter; with an f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calling.
The connectivity features of the S21 FE include 5G, 4G VoLTE, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port with OTG support. Moreover, the sensors array of the device features an under-display, optical fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and a compass.
The battery capacity provided on the handset is a 4,500mAh cell that supports 25W wired fast charging; 15W fast wireless charging, and a Reverse wireless charging of 4.5W.
Price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will flaunt in four different color variants; White, Graphite, Lavender, and a new Olive shade. The price of this Fan Edition S21 starts at $699 for the base variant of 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
The smartphone will go on sale from January 11 on its official websites and other retailers in select regions.
