Redmi 11 Prime Series and Redmi A1 Budget Smartphones Launched in India

Redmi 11 Prime Series and Redmi A1 Budget smartphones have officially launched in the Indian market. Xiaomi has announced the new Redmi handsets with various models and storage versions. The Redmi 11 Prime series includes the vanilla 4G model and a 5G version with the same storage choices but different color options.

However, the Redmi A1 arrives as a completely new handset with affordable pricing and entry-level specifications. These newly launched handsets from the Chinese manufacturer run on the MIUI with Android 12 and supports up to 20 Regional Indian languages. Let’s check out the full specifications, features, pricing, and availability of the Redmi 11 Prime series and Redmi A1.

Redmi 11 Prime Series Specifications

Both smartphones sport a 6.58 inches FHD IPS LCD with a 1080 x 2408 pixels screen resolution. These displays come with a 90Hz refresh rate, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a screen-to-body ratio of 83.6%.

The series comes with a 4G variant that features the MediaTek Helio G99. The 5G variant of the 11 Prime features the MediaTek Dimensity 700 Chipset. On top of all, the handsets run on the Android 12 operating system with MIUI 13 skin.

The camera module on the 4G version includes a primary 50-megapixel wide sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF. The two other sensors on the camera setup come with a 2-megapixel shooter for macro and depth shots.

However, the 5G variant slightly changes its camera system as it lacks the macro shooter, and the rest of everything is the same. The front-facing sensor on the new series of Redmi devices has an 8MP (4G variant) and a 5MP shooter (5G variant).

The connectivity options include 5G, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port. Besides, the sensors array of the smartphones features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Accelerometer, proximity, and compass. The battery pack on both devices includes a 5000 mAh Li-Po cell that supports 18W fast charging.

Redmi A1 Specifications

The Redmi A1 features a 6.52 inches HD+ IPS LCD with a 720 x 1600 pixels of screen resolution. The brand has provided the display with a regular 60Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, a 20:9 aspect ratio, a screen-to-body ratio of 81.4%, and a pixel density of 269 PPI. Under the hood, a 12nm Mediatek Helio A22 paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU powers the smartphone. However, the A1 runs on the Android 12 OS with MIUI 12 skin.

The camera module on the A1 includes a dual-sensor system featuring a primary 8-megapixel shooter and a secondary 0.3-megapixel sensor. The front-facing camera on the smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling.

On the other hand, the device’s connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a micro USB port. The company has provided limited sensors on the Redmi A1, featuring only Accelerometer and Virtual proximity sensing. The battery on this budget handset is a Li-Po 5000 mAh cell that supports average charging speed.

Price and Availability

The Redmi 11 Prime 4G starts at Rs. 12,999 and goes up Rs. 14,999 with three color options Thunder Black, Chrome Silver, and Meadow Green. The 5G variant starts at Rs. 13,999 and goes up to Rs. 15,999, featuring Peppy Purple, Flashy Black, and Playful Green colors. Both handsets will be on sale from September 9 in India.

The Redmi A1, with its single storage version of 2GB RAM and 32 GB storage, costs Rs. 6,499. Besides, the brand will bring the handset in Light Blue, Light Green, and Black shades. Lastly, this budget offering from Xiaomi Redmi will begin on September 9 at 4 PM in India.
