This year the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi launched multiple IoT devices in India and the company is also planning to launch more IoT devices. As the Xiaomi India head, Manu Kumar Jain said before the launch of the Poco X2 that, the company will launch multiple IoT devices in India.
One thing is clear the company is spreading its arm towards IoT devices. Coming back to the devices that are already launched and available in the market. The Mi Compact Bluetooth speaker 2 is the company’s one of the smallest Bluetooth speakers that launched in India.
The compact form factor of the device made me curious to check it out. I bought the speaker from the Company’s official website at a price of Rs 799 for myself. I am using the speaker for almost a week and here are my thoughts about the device.

Mi Compact Speaker 2 Specs and Features
The Mi compact speaker 2 comes with a compact design as its name indicates. With its compact design form factor, the speaker is pretty lightweight to carry. The speaker is so small that it can fit in your palm, and you can take it with yourself wherever you want.
The speaker has a Parametric mesh design as the company calls it. The Mi logo is embedded on the top of the speaker. On the side, it has a small notification light and a micro-USB port. The notification light is pretty helpful for an indication that the device is connected or not. However, it has a single blue color light.
The design looks pretty minimalistic and I kinda like the design.
The bottom of the device is a house of the power button, which is surrounded by the model no. of the device and the company’s office address of china. On the bottom, you also get a strap connector option and the strap is included in the box.
The strap is helpful as you can hang it anywhere.
The speaker comes with Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity and has a distance limit of 10m. The speaker can be easily connected with a smartphone, computer, TV or other devices.
Connecting the speaker is pretty easy, just turn it on and it will show up with the name “MI BT18I”. Unlike the other Bluetooth speakers, the MI compact 2 also gives you the option to not receive phone calls from the speaker.
The power button comes with multi-functionality options. The button can not only be used for powering on/off the device but can also be used to play/pause the music. As the Mi compact speaker comes with an in-built mic the small button is also capable to answer and reject the call.
The thing I really liked about the speaker that it can clear paired devices. To clear the paired devices first power off and long-press the power button for 6 seconds to clear all the connected devices pretty easy, isn’t it?
Talking about the dimensions and weight of the device it has a 32mm height and a 50mm diameter and only weighs 54 grams. It has a 480mAh battery and the device could be charged with the micro-USB cable.
The USB cable is not included in the box, which is sad for the price you are paying.
However, the cable does not come in the box. The company claims that at the 80% volume it can give you playback time of 6 hours. However, I didn’t perform any battery test on the device but, you can enjoy it for long on a single charge.

Sound Quality of Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2
Now, talking about the sound quality, the 2W speaker is powerful and produces enough sound to entertain people in a big room. I was surprised when I connected it for the first time and increases the volume at the highest level. I wasn’t expecting that, it would be that much loud. Considering the size of the Bluetooth speaker it produces good quality sound. Further, the vocals are clear even in the high volume.

Verdict
If you are looking for a small and compact Bluetooth speaker that could fit in your pocket and you can take it everywhere with you, then the Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2 is for you.
But before buying the device read this, The speaker comes in only White color, which could be sad for people like me who prefer black over white.
Additionally, the USB charger is not included in the box, which is sad for the price you are paying. I think the company should have included a micro-USB cable in the box. Apart from that, the speaker produces good quality sound, and that is more important.
