Apple has launched iPhone SE (2020) the successor of iPhone SE which debuted in 2016. Design-wise the iPhone SE 2 looks the same as the iPhone 8 that was launched in September 2017. It is built using aerospace-grade aluminum and durable glass and it weighs 148 grams. The device also features an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.
The SE2 got delayed because of the COVID-19 outbreak in China. As the companies top contract manufacturers, Wistron and Foxconn manufacturing plants are located near Shanghai and Zhengzhou. And it is just 500 km from Wuhan, which was the epicenter of the outbreak.
iPhone SE 2 Specifications
The iPhone SE (2020) has a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels. It has a 625 nits max brightness and it also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. Also, the display features Haptic Touch support. It is powered by an A13 bionic chip. The device comes in three different storage variants 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
In-camera department, The SE2 offers a 12MP single wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture with OIS at the back. It can record 4K video recording at up to 60fps, and Smart HDR for photos. The rear camera is protected by sapphire crystal lens cover. Despite being a single-lens camera, it offers Portrait mode using computational photography, enabled by the Neural Engine.
On the front, it features a 7MP with an f/2.2 aperture camera for selfies. Like always, Apple has not detailed the size of the battery and RAM amount.
However, the company mentioned that it can last as long as the iPhone 8, with 13 hours of video playback time and 40 hours of audio playback time.
The device supports 18W fast charging and can charge the device 50% in 30 mins. But, you’ll not get the fast charger bundled in the box.
The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Wi-Fi calling, NFC, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Lightning port. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, but you’ll get the Earpods with a lightning connector. For security, the phone has the Touch ID button – instead of the Face ID, which requires a special array of sensors.
Price and Availability
The device starts with a price tag of Rs 42,500 for the 64GB storage variant. Followed by Rs 47,800 for 128GB storage variant and 58,300 for the 256GB storage variant.
However, the company hasn’t said anything about the availability in India. The device comes in Black, White and Red color options.
