Asus ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro with Snapdragon 888+ 5G Chipset Launched in India

Asus India has finally brought the Asus ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro Gaming smartphones in the country; after the global launch in August 2021. This new duo of smartphones from the Taiwanese brand features dual front speakers; the Pro model comes with a small PMOLED display on the back panel with ROG Vision.

The major differences between the Pro and the regular variant include; the storage versions as well as the small PMOLED display found on the back of the Pro variant. Apart from these changes, both devices come with similar displays, triple cameras, and internals. Furthermore, the device features ultrasonic sensors for AirTrigger 5 and grip press mostly useful for gaming purposes.

Asus ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro Specifications

The ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro handsets feature a 6.78-inch full-HD+ Samsung AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2448 pixels. The displays come with 144Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate support along with HDR10+, 1ms response time and 24ms touch latency.

Furthermore, these large displays can emit a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits and come with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

One of the unique parts of the ROG Phone 5s is a dedicated Pixelworks i6 processor; that handles all the display-related processes that even includes the back PMOLED display. Under the hood, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset coupled with Adreno 660 GPU powers these smartphones.

The storage combinations range up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Whereas, the Pro variant comes with a storage of up to; 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage. The ROG Phone 5s and 5s Pro run on the custom ROG UI skin based on the Android 11 operating system.

Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro

The camera module on the ROG Phone 5s series includes a triple camera setup; featuring a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The secondary sensor on the setup includes a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter with f/2.4 aperture and a 5-megapixel tertiary macro sensor with f/2.0 aperture. Moreover, the front camera of the new ROG device from Asus; flaunts a whooping 24-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling.

The senors array on both devices features an under-display fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, e-compass; proximity sensor, ambient light sensorGNSS GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou, QZSS, and NaviC.

Coming to the connectivity options the handsets come with  5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6 with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Besides, these gaming smartphones come packed with 6000mAh dual-cell batteries that support 30W fast charging.

Price and Availability

The regular Asus ROG Phone 5s starts at Rs. 49,999 for the 8GB RAM, 128GB storage variant; the 12GB RAM, 256GB storage version is priced at Rs. 57,999. On the contrary, the higher storage version, the ROG Phone 5s Pro comes with a price tag of Rs. 79,999.

The ROG Phone 5s come in Phantom Black and Storm White colors; whereas the ROG Phone, 5s Pro flaunts in a single Phantom Black shade. The devices will go on sale from February 18 on Flipkart in India.
