Vivo Nex 3 Launched with Snapdragon 855+ and Super AMOLED Waterfall Display

Rahul Krishnan • Updated September 17, 2019 • 3 min read • Leave a Comment

There was a time Vivo focused only on their selfie cameras to increase offline sales figures. Given the digital awareness is increasing among people, they realized the importance of having a capable processor and other specifications.

That’s how Vivo started shifting their focus from heavy promotion for their cameras to offering reasonably decent (spec-wise) devices. In case you follow tech news, you know the OEM has a flagship lineup named Nex.

To recall, Vivo’s sibling Oppo already released their Reno 2 with top-of-the-line features recently. Now that we are here to talk about Nex 3, let’s delve into its features, shall we?

The first thing you notice on the phone is the display itself. The company has chosen an immersive curved screen, which they call as waterfall display. Measuring 6.89-inch in size, the Super AMOLED panel has full-HD+ resolution.

Vivo has eliminated the notch by adding a pop-up camera on the top of the screen. You can’t find any physical buttons on the sides but only virtual ones.

Going underneath, you will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset coupled with up to 12 GB RAM and Adreno 640 GPU. Yeah, the processor is an overclocked version of the regular 855. The onboard storage is available up to 512 GB.

On the back, the phone houses three cameras in the shape of a ring with the LED flash on the bottom of the setup. The triple camera setup has a 64 MP Samsung GW1 sensor with f/1.7 aperture. And, the secondary ultra-wide sensor measures 13 MP and has a 120 degree field of view.

As for the third telephoto one, it measures 13 MP and can offer 2X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom. Upfront, a 16 MP snapper is available for selfies.

The battery capacity is 4500 mAh and it supports 44W ultra-fast charging. So, recharging the device is not going to take you long.

Along with the regular version, Vivo has launched a 5G version too. It features all the specifications like the 4G version, but with 5G connectivity. As of now, there are two color variants available; Black and White. It will go on sale on September 21 in China.

For the basic model with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, the price is CNY 4,998 (roughly Rs. 50,600). Vivo Nex 3 5G carries a price tag of CNY 5,698 (roughly 57,700) for the 8GB + 256GB model and CNY 6,198 (roughly Rs. 62,700) for 12 GB+ 256 GB.
