The Most Affordable Android Phone from Nokia with 2-Day Battery Life Launched

Rahul Krishnan • Updated November 1, 2017 • 3 min read • Leave a Comment

We already published a rumor roundup of Nokia 2, in which we hinted at the $99 price tag. The company has launched the device in India yesterday (31-10-2017).

The company stated that about 17 percent of the global smartphone sales (and 30% in India) happen between $100-150. They want to dominate over all the other companies in all price segments. The Nokia 8, the company launched earlier, packs in strong specs at a reasonable cost.

Nokia 2, certainly, is an entry-level device, targeting the ones who buy their first smartphone. Although the look doesn’t feel premium, they have implemented 6000 series aluminum frame around the polycarbonate body of the phone.

Digging deep into the specs, Nokia 2 sports a 5-inch HD LTPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. HMD Global claims it to be the best-in-class due to the 1:3000 contrast ratio. India is one of the top three countries for the companies given the highest number of sales since the relaunch.

Under the hood, it bears a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset (quad-core, clocked up to 1.2GHz) coupled with 1 GB RAM. Although it has only 8 GB of onboard storage, you can expand it up to 128 GB using an external SD card. When it comes to the camera, the rear shooter got an 8-MP autofocus sensor whereas the front did a 5-MP fixed focus one.

The best thing about the device is you get three slots in total; two for SIM cards and one for micro SD. Reliance Jio has begun the VoLTE revolution and they have bagged too many customers. Hence, Nokia might not have thought twice to include the facility on the new offering.

You get all the necessary connectivity options including the Bluetooth and 3.5-mm headphone jack. And, it has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor. The phone comes with the IP52 rating for drip protection and packs in a 4100 mAh battery. The company boasts it can provide you with 2-days of backup.

The phone comes in there colors Pewter Black with black face and frame, Pewter White with the white face, black frame, and Copper, with the black face, black back, and copper frame.

Nokia 2 will hit the market by mid-November. Though they haven’t released the Indian pricing, we predict it to be around Rs. 7500.

What do you think? A Snapdragon 212 with 1 GB RAM is all you can get for Rs. 7500? Does the brand name matter more than the underneath specs? Share your opinion into the comment box down below.
