Asus announces the Zenfone Max Pro M2 with Snapdragon 660 SoC and 5000 mAh battery

Abhishek Jariwala • Updated December 7, 2018 • 3 min read •

Asus has just launched the latest smartphone in their Zenfone Max series. Talking about the Zenfone Max Pro series from Asus, the company launched the first smartphone in this series last year. This smartphone was named as the Zenfone Max Pro M1. Now, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 has been officially announced in Russia. This smartphone looks set to be another winner in the mid-range segment from Asus. As far as highlights of Zenfone Max Pro M2 are concerned, the device has a 6.3-inch display along with a notch. There is a 5000 mAh non-removable battery on this device for an exceptionally long battery life. Along with that, the smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 660 processor from Qualcomm

Some of the ingredients involved in the massive success of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 were its great specifications at a lower price. Asus would hope that the same trend continues with its Zenfone Max Pro M2 as well. However, Asus would have to cut margins significantly to repeat a similar story. We say this because Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 has been launched in Russia at a price of 17990 Rubles which is equivalent to $269. This comes down approximately to a price of ~Rs. 19000 in India at the present dollar rate.

Now, we believe that this is a somewhat higher price even though the device has great specifications. So we do hope that Asus launched this device in India at around the Rs. 15000 mark in India to win over the market.

As for specifications, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display at 19:9 aspect ratio and 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution. This display is accompanied by a notch to push the bezels to the edge of the device. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor along with Adreno 512 GPU. Asus has bundled 4GB of RAM on this device along with up to 128GB of internal storage. The storage on this device is expandable up to 2 TB as well. The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 still comes with Android 8.1 Oreo which is disappointing

The device has a dual camera setup on the back which is a 12 MP primary and a 5 MP secondary one. On the front, there is a 13 MP selfie camera along with an LED flash. The device has a massive 5000 mAh non-removable battery but it does not have fast charging which is another disappointment.
