Asus Mobile India has woken up from its long hibernation and announced the Asus 8z handset; apart from the ROG series in the country. The smartphone actually made its debut last year globally but launches after almost 9 months in India. The physical footprint of the device comes in a compact shell with a decent-sized screen on the front.

The rebranded Zenfone 8 in India with its compact design comes along with the high-end specifications list featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800-series chipset. The smartphone will compete with the likes of OnePlus, Mi, and Realme smartphones; which carry a similar set of specifications at the same pricing.

Asus 8z Specifications

The 8z from Asus sports a 5.9 inches Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels. The display supports a 120Hz high refresh rate, HDR 10+ and puts out a peak brightness of up to 1100 nits.

Furthermore, the screen gets the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection along with support for the Always-On display feature. Under the hood, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC coupled with Adreno 660 GPU powers the device.

The smartphone comes with Dual Sim 5G support and runs on the Zen UI Skin; based on Android 11, upgradable to Android 12. On the other hand, the 8z features a dual rear camera setup featuring a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture that supports OIS and PDAF.

The secondary sensor on the setup includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter with an f/2.2 lens that supports dual pixel PDAF. The front-facing camera on the punch-display features a 12-megapixel sensor with f/2.5 aperture and dual-pixel PDAF.

Besides, a 4000 mAh cell juices up the Asus 8z and charges the device from 0 to 60% in 35 mins with the 30W fast charging support.
